The Royal Nile: A Private Luxury Egypt Itinerary

Day 1 — Arrive in Cairo

Receive airport assistance according to the confirmed service available for your arrival terminal and flight. Meet your private vehicle and transfer to the selected Cairo or Giza residence.

The first evening should remain light. Depending on arrival time, it may include a quiet dinner, a view-oriented terrace or simply time to recover from the flight. The journey begins more successfully when the first archaeological day is not compromised by an overfilled arrival schedule.

Day 2 — Giza in Context

Explore the Giza Plateau privately with your Egyptologist. The sequence can be adjusted around current opening times, traffic, weather and any approved private-access arrangement.

Rather than treating the Pyramids as a single photograph, the visit places them within the development of royal burial architecture and the wider Giza necropolis. The Great Sphinx, valley and mortuary temples, viewpoints and optional pyramid interiors can be considered according to interest and mobility.

Lunch may be arranged with a meaningful Pyramid view rather than chosen simply for convenience. Return to the residence for rest, or continue with a carefully selected second visit if energy allows.

Day 3 — Saqqara, Dahshur and the Origins of Monumental Egypt

Travel south with your private Egyptologist to understand the long architectural experiment that preceded Giza.

Saqqara can include the Step Pyramid complex, selected tombs and additional areas according to current openings. Dahshur provides the opportunity to see the Bent and Red Pyramids and to discuss how royal builders solved structural challenges that transformed pyramid design.

The day can be archaeological in depth or paced more lightly. It should not become a rushed competition to enter every structure.

Day 4 — The Grand Egyptian Museum and Cairo

Visit the Grand Egyptian Museum according to current ticketing, opening and guiding regulations. The focus can be broad or tailored toward a period, collection or artistic theme.

A second part of the day may explore Islamic Cairo, Coptic Cairo, a private collection, design and craft, or contemporary Cairo. We avoid attaching a generic bazaar stop to every itinerary. The city experience should reflect what the traveler actually wants to understand.

Day 5 — Cairo to Luxor

Travel to Luxor by the confirmed commercial or private aviation arrangement.

A private charter may preserve scheduling flexibility and discretion for some parties, but it is not automatically superior in every case. The choice depends on aircraft availability, airport slots, luggage, group size, cost, commercial schedules and the wider itinerary.

On arrival, transfer to the selected residence. A West Bank stay may offer quiet and immediate proximity to the necropolis; an East Bank property may suit travelers who prefer Nile frontage and easier access to Luxor Temple. The proposal explains the trade-off.

Day 6 — The Royal Necropolises

Begin at the West Bank with a sequence designed around current opening times, tomb availability, heat and crowd patterns.

The Valley of the Kings may include standard-admission tombs and separately ticketed tombs selected for artistic, historical or personal interest. The Valley of the Queens, the Temple of Hatshepsut, Medinet Habu, Deir el-Medina or a noble tomb can be incorporated without forcing every site into one exhausting day.

Private openings or restricted access remain subject to official permission and final written confirmation.

Day 7 — Karnak, Luxor and Time at the Residence

Explore Karnak with enough time to understand its development rather than simply crossing the Great Hypostyle Hall. Depending on the itinerary, Luxor Temple can be visited later in the day when the light and atmosphere change.

The schedule should preserve time to enjoy the chosen residence. A landmark hotel or garden retreat adds little value if every day begins before dawn and ends after dinner.

Day 8 — Embark the Private Dahabiya

Transfer to the confirmed embarkation point and step aboard the Dahabiya reserved for your party.

Before confirmation, your proposal will have identified the exact vessel, full-charter status, cabin or suite allocation, route, meals, guiding, inclusions and significant conditions. Onboard, meet the crew and settle into the slower logic of the river.

The first sailing hours are intentionally unstructured. This is the transition from itinerary to passage.

Days 9–12 — The Nile at a Private Rhythm

The exact shore program depends on the vessel, route, sailing duration, river conditions, official openings and embarkation direction. It may include Edfu, Kom Ombo, Esna, El Kab, Gebel el-Silsila and quieter riverbank or village stops where appropriate and permitted.

A private charter changes the social and operational atmosphere. Your party does not wait for unrelated passengers, and the Egyptologist can interpret the shore visits at the group’s level. Meal timing and menus can be discussed in advance, subject to the vessel’s capabilities and provisioning.

Flexibility does not mean that every route can change without consequence. Wind, navigation, docking, permits, temple hours and transfer logistics continue to shape the sailing. A credible proposal explains those limits rather than promising complete freedom.

Day 13 — Aswan

Disembark and transfer to the selected Aswan residence. Visit Philae by private boat with your Egyptologist, arranging the timing around current operating hours and the wider day.

The afternoon might include time at Old Cataract or another selected property, a private boat among the islands, the Nubian Museum, a cultural visit arranged with care, or rest. Aswan is often most memorable when it is not overprogrammed.

Day 14 — Abu Simbel or a Slower Aswan Day

Choose between a privately guided Abu Simbel excursion and a deeper day in Aswan.

Abu Simbel may be reached by scheduled flight, private charter or road according to availability, timing, comfort and the rest of the journey. The proposal will state the operating plan and contingencies. Guests who prefer not to add the journey south may instead spend the day on the Nile, visit selected sites or enjoy the residence.

Departure or Extension

Continue to Cairo for an international connection, add a final city night for greater resilience, or extend to the Red Sea, Alexandria, Fayoum, Siwa or Jordan.

Where the international departure is important or separate tickets are involved, we generally prefer to protect the schedule rather than rely on an unnecessarily tight same-day connection.
